The new PLAFCO material can be used to replace plastics in single-use products such as plastic straws and packaging materials, as well as to replace multi-layer paper packaging solutions with a stiffer and more moisture resistant.

In the PLAFCO process, raw paper is transformed into PLAFCO using technology patented by PLAFCO Fibertech Oy. PLAFCO is an entirely new composite material, which is 100% sustainable and free of harmful chemicals. In the Plafco process, the cellulose in the raw paper is dissolved and used as a binding agent for PLAFCO.

The PLAFCO process naturally bonds the cellulose provided by the raw material with the fibres. PLAFCO can be added in the paper recycling process where PLAFCO can enrich the paper recycling process by providing virgin fibers and dissolved cellulose, which provides highly active fibers.
